Autumn in South Tyrol
“Törggelen” in the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal
A walk through colourful vineyards and chestnut groves, passing by castles and traditional farms, in the background the red glowing mountain peaks illuminated by the last rays of sun.
In autumn, when the days get shorter and nature is lined up in its unique colourful dress, then it times to ting in the season of "Törggelen". The farmers open their "Stuben" and serve traditional homemade culinary specialties: bacon, cheese, potatoes, sausages, soups, meat, wine and apple juice, and there are also sweet “Krapfen”, roasted chestnuts and fruit.
The season of "Törggelen" is introduced with the celebration of a big festival in Klausen, the so called "Gassltörggelen". The festival takes place on three consecutive Saturdays in September and offers the most traditional culinary delights, music and entertainment. Autumn lends itself perfectly to beautiful walks and excursions arranged by the Chiusa Tourist Association. During the guided hikes, you can visit traditional farms and their “Stuben”, where to taste the new wine, the typical autumn products and roasted chestnuts. During your stay, we organize a typical evening of "Törggelen" in a traditional farm for you. Enjoy the rustic menu and the New Wine: the taxi service is also included.
